Universal Beams.

Our cut to size Universal Beam, UBs or I-Beams, are steel sections available in a range of sizes, weights and finishes to suit your next structural steel support and building construction projects. They can bear incredibly high loads and also reduce the requirement for multiple support elements in construction.

The Universal Beam’s vertical side resists the sheer force exerted upon it, while the flanges help the beam resist the load’s pressure, which would otherwise cause it to bend. Providing long-lasting and reliable stability and support, they provide an even weight distribution of consistently weighted heavy loads across the length of the beam support.

The parallel flange of the Universal Beam does away with the need for tapered washers and makes it easier to connect than the flanges of Rolled Steel Joists (RSJ), which vary in thickness. The depth of a UB is always greater than its width, making it more suited to carrying bending loads (forces applied to it in the middle or on the end) such as the beam elements in floors.

Our Universal Steel Beams can be used in a wide variety of structural steel applications. They can be cut and welded and are available in either self-colour or a red primer. These steel beams can also be easily recycled, repurposed and reused to help you manage and reduce costs.
